Product Quality and Certification

Product or prototype testing not only is a task to check if it complies with the legal criteria and limitations given by relative standards, but also it is a decisive step for designing and defining the product performances. The test result becomes the starting point for the following project processing, aiming at improving the product features.

In this area Galileo carries on the SIL-Laboratories System activity, in order to provide small and medium enterprises with advisory services regarding the test and certification of products.

SIL, which works in cooperation with the Laboratories of the University of Padua and other non-academic Certified Laboratories, deals with the needs of small and medium enterprises supporting them in the product certification activity through a process that follows them from the first approach to legislation to the final testing.

SIL activities are structured as follows:

Identification of the law or regulation relevant for the product;
Interpretation of such law or regulation;
consequent identification of the test to be carried out and of its modalities;
identification of the best laboratory to carry out the test.

Currently, SIL brings together a network of laboratories belonging to university and public and private agencies, that can operate and provide integrated testing and certification services in a wide range of production sectors.

SIL, moreover, supports such laboratories in the promotion of their services giving awareness to professional and business operators during meetings, conferences and publishing.
